This fused glass catchall dish is a rare mid-century modern piece signed “higgins” in gold—a silkscreen mark used by glass artists Frances and Michael Higgins during their time at the Dearborn Glass Company from 1958 to 1964. This period is known for its distinctive technique: layering enamel decoration between two sheets of glass and fusing them in a kiln.
The gold signature places this piece firmly in their Dearborn studio era, before the couple moved briefly to Haeger Pottery and eventually returned to their own studio in Riverside, Illinois. Each piece from this time was individually crafted and reflects the Higgins’ pioneering approach to modern decorative glass.
