Mid-19th Century Ambrotype Photograph of Woman with Tinted Cheeks

A small ambrotype portrait of a young woman, cased with gilt matting. This example includes hand-tinted cheeks, a popular practice in the 1850s–60s to add lifelike warmth. The original case shows age but remains intact. A fine example of early photographic artistry.
