An impressive antique Korean brass candlestick standing approximately 31 inches tall, richly decorated with traditional symbolic motifs and a beautifully aged surface.
The tall architectural form rises from a broad circular brass base engraved with scrolling floral decoration. Above the candle cup is a round reflector embellished with four raised butterflies surrounding a central flower. A pierced panel beneath the cup incorporates the traditional longevity character (壽 / Shou), a symbol associated with long life and good fortune throughout East Asian decorative arts.
At the top hangs a sculptural lotus-form brass element, giving the candlestick an especially striking silhouette.
Butterflies have long carried associations with joy, transformation, and longevity, while floral and lotus imagery adds further symbolism of renewal and harmony. Together, the motifs make this much more than a utilitarian candlestick—it is a highly decorative example of Korean metalwork.
The brass retains a deep, naturally developed patina with areas of oxidation, verdigris, spotting, and surface wear consistent with age. I have intentionally left the surface unpolished to preserve its character.
